Of all of the features and design elements that homeowners need to consider when it comes to interior decor and aesthetic, something that the team here at Totally Flooring have come to find over the years is that carpets are massively underrated and under-appreciated for the impact that they can make!
When the time comes to select a new carpet for your own home, you definitely shouldn’t be taking the process lightly, because that carpet is set to be part of your home aesthetic for a serious long stretch of years!
With all of that in mind, here are some tips for picking the perfect carpet on the Gold Coast.
- Practical Colour
Think about your life and what the main focuses of it are. If you have young children and/or pets, then something like a white carpet isn’t going to be the best idea if longevity and cleanliness are the main priorities.
Essentially, what we’re saying is the darker the carpet, the more punishment it can take before it starts to look like it needs replacing! Patterned carpets are also better at hiding stains if you’ve got kids or pets.
- Pile Fibre
You will need to pick between probably three common pile fibres, which are wool, wool mix, or polypropylene (or nylon).
All have their own pros and cons, but in general, a wool mix of 80% wool and 20% manmade fibres tends to be the best option for comfort and durability.
You don’t actually ever see it, but picking the right underlay is just as important to the carpet buying process as the carpet itself. Underlay is what provides that bonus cushioning and underfoot comfort, so investing a heavy duty option will help to increase your comfort and extend the life span of the carpet that sits on top of it.
It can reduce pile compression and helps to maintain perfect appearance for a longer period of time.
We are absolutely certain that you will find something in among our extensive stock that is perfect for your design ambitions, and any of our trained and experienced team members will be more than happy to assist you in any ways that they can.
We look forward to hearing from you!
